As all of you aware, the club is again hosting a Presentation Night on May 31st with special guest Nick O’Hearn.  It would be great to see as many members as possible to help celebrate the winners of the past year and to hear how Nick O’Hearn managed to beat Tiger Woods twice in Match Play.

Premier League

The Premier League regular season has now concluded.  The semi finals will be played this week with both winning teams going through to the final the following week.  Last years runners up Raging Balls finished 2 games clear on top and face up against 4th Placed Team 14.  Fairways to Heaven climbed into 2nd Place and will play The Cream.  Good luck to all 4 teams.

Pennant

Both the Men’s and Ladies Pennant season came to a close recently.  Thank you to all players who represented the club this past season and thank you to the members who came and supported the players during finals.

The Scratch team made the final after being undefeated in the regular season.  In a close final match that could have gone either way it was Warragul that eventually came out the winners on the day 4 games to 3.

Handicap 1 also had a strong regular season finishing 2nd on the ladder winning all but 2 matches.  In a semi final contest against a strong Churchill Monash team in which the match was extremely close with 3 games going to the 18th hole.  Unfortunately the result didn’t go our way with Churchill Monash winning 4 games to 3.

The Handicap 2 team finished the regular season strong coming from 5th place early in the season to finish top of ladder.  The final saw a tough match up with Garfield at their home course; while the team was unsuccessful in winning, the score line doesn’t show how close the contest was.  Garfield ended up Prevailing 7 games to nil.

The Ladies had quite a few close games during the regular season, managing to win 2 of their matches but unfortunately not able to make the finals.

Captain v Chairperson’s Challenge

Last Saturday saw the return of the Captain v Chairperson’s Challenge.  Well done to all the players representing Andrew’s team who came out on top.  The average score was 28.2 to the Chairperson’s Team, while the Captain’s team had an average of 27.7.

Shootout

Starting in June will be the qualification for the shootout final, which will be held on Sunday the 13th October.  The shootout final will consist of 19 qualifiers who will be eliminated hole by hole until only 1 player is left.  Players must register to be eligible to qualify and scores will only be counted after the player has qualified.

That is all for now, but I’ll leave you with this quote from 3 time Major Champion Payne Stewart.

“A bad attitude is worse than a bad swing”.
